RESUME
Cet article aborde la question des exploitations et trafics illégaux dans la province du Nord-Kivu en proie à des conflits intermittents, voire interminables. Les analyses démontrent à quel point les frontières poreuses et non officielles qui séparent le Nord-Kivu de ses voisins (Rwanda, Ouganda, Burundi) facilitent la circulation illégale de biens et de personnes. Elles constituent un terrain propice à l’émergence et à la prospérité des trafics illégaux internationaux, qui alimentent et structurent la conflictualité locale. L’or, le coltan, la cassitérite, le cacao ainsi que les armes y circulent en dehors de tout contrôle étatique, enrichissant des acteurs divers, entre autres: les groupes armés, les réseaux transnationaux et certains responsables locaux corrompus, créant ainsi une économie de guerre et ce, depuis plus de trois décennies à ce jour.

ABSTRACT
This article addresses the issue of illegal exploitation and trafficking in the province of North Kivu, which is plagued by intermittent and even endless conflicts. The analyses demonstrate the extent to which the porous and unofficial borders separating North Kivu from its neighbors (Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi) facilitate the illegal movement of goods and people. They provide fertile ground for the emergence and proliferation of illegal international trafficking, which fuels and structures local conflict. Gold, coltan, cassiterite, cocoa, and weapons circulate outside of any state control, enriching various actors, including armed groups, transnational networks, and certain corrupt local officials, thus creating a war economy that has been in place for more than three decades.
